July 3rd, 2013 Employer Mandate Provision of Health Care Reform Delayed Until 2015 The Obama administration announced Tuesday that it is delaying a key provision of the Accountable Care Act (ACA). Initially, the provision of the ACA also known as “Play or Pay” required companies that employ 50 or more workers to offer health care coverage to their employees in 2014 or face fines. The Treasury Department and the White House said that based on complaints by employers, the system for reporting the coverage was too onerous. The mandate which was originally set to kick in for 2014, will now start in 2015. For additional information, please view the Treasury Note link.
