January 23rd, 2014 Additional Money Available for RI Companies for Worker Training The Governor’s Workforce board has announced that Rhode Island companies can now benefit from an additional $700,000 to fund incumbent worker training to help improve the skills of current employees and build a highly skilled and high-performing workforce. If your RI business contributes to the Job Development Fund, you are eligible to apply for matching grants of $5,000 to $40,000. Two additional changes to the grant process were also announced: 1) Companies of any size may apply for the maximum grant award, and 2) Companies that currently have an Incumbent Worker Training Grant are eligible to apply. An informational meeting will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. at the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training to review the grant application process.
