February 4th, 2016 More Nonprofit Taxing on the Horizon? In an effort to help the city stabilize its finances, Providence Mayor Jorge O. Elorza would like to collect more taxes from Providence’s largest non-profits. The money would come from taxing “non-mission, essential” property (such as revenue-generating parking lots). The legislation is being drafted by Representative John M. Carnevale, Democrat – Providence and is expected to be introduced in the near future.
