April 13th, 2016 Technical Issue with RI’s “Where’s My Refund” On-line Tool The RI Department of Revenue (DOR) Division of Taxation has sent out a notice that their “Where’s My Refund” on-line tool has mistakenly advised some taxpayers who have filed their returns, either themselves or via their tax preparers, that the state has not yet received their RI personal income tax return. Rest assured, your returns have been received regardless of the message, which was caused by a technical problem that the DOR hopes to have corrected by today. See the actual RI DOR message [here]. Please also note that some taxpayers have not yet received their refunds due to a number of factors including heightened tax return scrutiny due to increased fraudulent returns; higher volume of returns; and it is the first year using a new computer system.
