August 14th, 2013 Warning Warwick Property Owners-Errors in Bills Check your property tax bill carefully if you pay Warwick property tax. The recently issued 2013 property tax bills for both home and motor vehicle, mailed to Warwick property tax owners in late June 2013, included the following errors: For Those Paying the Tax Bill in Full: Tax bills are payable either quarterly or in full. For those residents intending to pay their bill in full, please note that the bill incorrectly identified the due date (incorrect year). The due date to pay the tax bill in full, if elected, is September 15, 2013. Note: For those paying their bill quarterly, the due dates were correct as reported. Such exemptions included those applicable for veterans and senior citizens. The City is still trying to identify who was impacted; the error appears to be caused by a system glitch related to situations with multiple property owners whereby more than one person is eligible for an exemption. To compound matters further, often times, real estate tax bills are not received and reviewed by the property owners but are rather processed through escrow accounts. Please contact the Warwick City Hall if you believe you were erroneously denied a tax exemption.Source: www.warwickonline.com ; Warwick Beacon article published on 7/4/13 written by John Howell, Exemptions missing from some tax bills.
